Black Bears with Santa in the Canadian Rockies by Marlene Doak

We spotted bears in Alberta, Canada. To define the many now-covered trees, I used a variety of sparkly, light blue and white threads. Stitches include the Victorian step and variations, such as Venetian. Helen’s original lace and diamond ray were used for some of the trees. Skip tent was used for the snow so the painted light-blue shadows would show through. Combined Wisper and Medici wool in basketweave made the bears’ fur look fuzzy. Museum quality glass was a must to prevent the expected viewer temptation to touch the textured bears.
