Honorable Mention, Non-Professional Japanese Embroidery

This design is from the Japanese Embroidery Center. Kay Stanis was my primary instructor for the airy representation of lace cap hydrangeas. The green sha was originally intended for a young girl’s obi. Its stiffness and reflective quality made the piece a challenge to stitch. I selected the complimentary silk fabric and ribbon and made the wall hanging.
