Nine Patch Tray by Teresa Frank

3rd Place, Professional Non-Original with Instruction

This piece, which is a sampling of several Ukrainian whitework techniques, was designed by Terri Bay and offered as a two-day class at NAN Assembly in 2019.

I came away from class with bits and pieces started on the linen, and when I returned home it was tucked away for a while. And then came 2020, Covid, and more time to stitch since my husband and I were not traveling. I pulled this out of stash and carefully worked through Terri’s instructions.

I love the needlework part but fear the “assembly” part of stitching. I forced myself to follow Terri’s steps for assembling the tray. I am happy to say I completed the project from beginning to end.

The only change I made from her original design was change the accent color from black to lavender. My thread choice here was Cosmo floss #176.
