The National Academy of Needlearts (NAN) is a nationwide, non-profit organization devoted to the advancement of embroidery as an art form.
Established in 1985 as a nationwide, nonprofit organization, NAN's goal is to uphold the highest standards in the needlearts by providing excellence in education to all those interested in furthering their embroidery skills as teachers, judges, artists, designers, authors, or technically proficient embroiderers.

NAN annually sponsors its Assembly for Embroiderers, which is an unrivaled needlework seminar for stitchers of all skill levels and interests who are members of the Academy.
The Exemplary is NAN's exceptional exhibit of needleart held in conjunction with the Assembly.
NAN maintains its outstanding archival collection of embroidery at the Gregg Museum of Arts & Design at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina.
