Assembly for Embroiderers
Assembly is a time to learn, be inspired, reconnect with friends, make new ones, and celebrate the creativity and craftsmanship at the heart of needlework. |
NAN’s Assembly for Embroiderers is an annual needlework seminar open to all stitchers—not just those pursuing certification as teachers or judges. Each year, Assembly offers a diverse array of classes, including canvaswork, surface embroidery, counted thread techniques, color and design, art classes related to the needlearts, and Japanese embroidery.
Immediately preceding Assembly, educational workshops are offered for those interested in learning more about teaching or judging needlework. Assembly officially begins on Friday with a morning tour of a local site of interest, followed by a half-day class featuring an innovative embroidery technique. That evening, attendees gather for a welcome dinner with NAN Board members and featured teachers.Two- and four-day classes are held Saturday through Tuesday. Along the way, attendees can enjoy Saturday’s Merchandise Night, featuring unique and one-of-a-kind offerings. On Monday evening, a festive Awards Banquet celebrates milestone achievements by NAN certification candidates and honors the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Exemplary, our annual needlework showcase, is held in conjunction with Assembly. Both events take place at the Somerset Inn—a boutique hotel located in suburban Detroit, MI that caters to our needs, and as a bonus, has an excellent restaurant.
