FAQs: Assembly and The Exemplary 2027

Do I have to register for Assembly or enter The Exemplary online?

No. You can print the registration/entry form from the Assembly booklet, fill it in, and mail it along with payment by check to the address shown on the form.

Does my Assembly registration include a banquet ticket?

Yes. Each two-day registration includes a banquet ticket, for either the opening or the awards banquet.

The four-day registration includes a ticket for both banquets. 

If I register online, how can I order banquet tickets for friends or family?

Go to the Assembly registration page and click on the "Merchandise Night / Additional Banquet Tickets" button, complete the registration form and payment.

Who can I notify about my special dietary needs and my banquet meal preferences?

Registrants will receive an email shortly before the start of Assembly. It will contain a link to a form that can be completed and submitted. The information will be communicated to hotel restaurant staff.

I don't see a way to pay class kit fees. How do I do that?

Once registration closes, invoices will be emailed to each registrant with information about how to pay.

How do I register online for the Tour, the Half-Day Class, or the Educational Workshops?

Go to the Assembly registration page and click on the button "Register for Educational Workshops, Half-Day Class, or Tour". Complete the form and submit your payment.

How do I pay by check if I’ve registered for Assembly or entered The Exemplary online?

  • Once you reach the “Review and Confirm” page, you’ll see two options for payment: “Credit or debit card payment” and “Manual payments”.
  • Click on “Manual payments”, then click on the “Invoice me” button that appears. Click on the “Download PDF” link to print the invoice, which you can mail with your check to the address shown.

How do I reserve a room at The Somerset Inn?

Visit The Somerset Inn online at https://bit.ly/NAN2027 to reserve your room. Alternatively go to www.somersetinn.com or call (248) 643-7800 or (800) 228-8769 and specify 979 as the Group Attendee Code.

Assembly Deadlines

October 31, 2026

    • Those who pre-registered must complete their registration by this date to secure their class choice.

January 15, 2027

    • Class registrations received after this date incur a $75 late fee. Class availability after this date may be limited.
    • For Assembly cancellations received by this date, registration fees minus an $85.00 administrative fee will be refunded.

February 1, 2027

    • After this date, registrations will not be accepted for classes that require purchase of a kit.

February 15, 2027

    • For Assembly cancellations received between January 16 and February 15, 2027, registration fees minus a $200.00 administrative fee will be refunded.
    • No refunds will be issued for cancellations after February 15, 2027.

The Exemplary Deadlines

February 15, 2027

    • Deadline for receipt of entry forms, entry fees, and artist statements.
    • Late entries will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Contact exemplary@needleart.org for assistance.

March 5, 2027

    • Deadline for receipt of shipped entries to The Exemplary.

March 10, 2027 (noon)

    • Deadline for entries (other than the Joy of Sharing category) to be delivered in person to The Exemplary.
    • Entries in the Joy of Sharing category may be delivered in person until Thursday, March 11, at 3 p.m.
