Honors
The NAN Honors program offers certified needlework teachers and judges an opportunity to pursue advanced academic research related to the needlearts. Comparable to a master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation, the project includes both a written scholarly paper and a stitched piece reflecting the research. Topics must be approved by the NAN Board of Directors and should be of scholarly merit. Participants have five years to complete the program. Once finished, the candidate presents their research and stitched piece at Assembly and donates both, along with their dissertation, to NAN’s Permanent Collection at the Gregg Museum of Art & Design at North Carolina State University.
