Second Place

This was a class I took at the ANG seminar in Milwaukee several years ago. I loved the colors of the piece, but Ro Pace (the designer) had intended it to be stitched on a cream canvas with gold flecks.

My husband is an amateur astronomer and I knew that it couldn’t be stitched on anything but black. When was the last time you saw a picture of a solar flare with anything but the black depths of the universe behind it?

I think Ro thought I was nuts to do it on black, but I love the way it came out.
