Third Place

This piece started out as a painted canvas. I stitched it using silk and Kreinik metallic thread. I consulted with a professional teacher on stitch and fiber selections. I added the “50” in gold beneath the two pained hearts and changed the color scheme to include additional gold fibers around the edges of the box. What makes this piece extra special for me is that my husband Andrew, a life-long professional contractor/carpenter, made the walnut wood box that contains the piece.
