Old Georgia Mill by Dolores Andrew

The black and white design of an old mill is based on my pen and ink drawing, later with watercolor added. I wanted to achieve in yarn the same contrast of value, and texture that had worked in the other medium. The mill wasor is—near Atlanta, and we just happened on it while driving around. I was able to grab some time for some quick photos and a few doodles before my family’s patience evaporated. The empty linen worked for the negative space, helping the contrast. It’s not “blackwork”, but it’s blackwork, and I used the same principles to do it.
