2016 Honorable Mention, Non-Professional Non-Original with Instruction

I was attracted to this piece because, to me, it looked like a neon sign you’d see on a roadside diner, and would give my kitchen a country feel.

When my instructor, Shay Pendray, asked if I wanted the panels to be all the same stitches or different, I asked for all different so that it would be more of a challenge. So the piece wouldn’t look cluttered, we decided to use the same thread for all the light green areas and a different thread for all the darker green areas.

I hope this needlework makes my guests feel like they’re going to be eating down home comfort food.
