Third Place

I took two wet felting classes from the wonderful Jan Waller, an English felting artist who fortunately lives in the Detroit area. This class, using pre-felts, presented a technique on which I could see making really interesting backgrounds for embroidery. On the pre-felt we placed the merino wool roving in our own design and wet felted it. I was inspired by both a painting by Monet and a picture by Michigan Nut Photography of cherry blossoms. I wanted more Cherry Blossoms than I as a rookie could get and stitching was the ideal solution.
