Beverly Booker

2008 Lifetime Achievement Awardee

Beverly Booker began her needlework certification process in 1978 at the National Standards Council of American Embroiderers, completing certification in Drawn Fabric/Pulled Thread, Counted Thread Techniques and Design.

Beverly then served as Membership Chairman, Vice President, President and Advisor for NSCAE. She also served as a Counselor and Secretary for the Correspondence School for several years.

In 1997 Beverly began her Judges’ Certification at the National Academy of Needlearts (NAN) and then served as Assistant Director of Judges’ Certification and Director of Judges’ Certification.

In 2001 Beverly began her Design Certification at NAN and then served as Assistant Director of Teachers’ Certification and Director of Teachers’ Certification.

Serving as a volunteer in several organizations for 46 years, Beverly retired from her volunteer jobs in 2006 and concentrated on learning the stitches and phases of Traditional Japanese Embroidery. At her retirement, Beverly closed HEART DESIGNS after 25 years designing and teaching needlework.
