Moonrise Over Lake Bradford by Carole Fiore

The inspiration for this mixed media piece was a picture provided by Laura Smith for her class at the 2017 EGA National Seminar. However, her picture of a mountain scene did not inspire me; a picture of a cypress swamp provided by a friend did. Never having done this type of embroidery, I felt uncomfortable. Using techniques that Laura taught, I interpreted that picture. With Laura’s encouragement, I was able to unleash my creativity and utilize several mixed media techniques. Acrylic wash on a Lutradur® provided the ground which was enhanced with fabric collage, and surface and free motion embroidery. When I share my creation, people in the Leon County (FL) area know the exactly where this is.
