Honorable Mention, Non-Professional Non-Original with Instruction
After seeing a charted piece on display at my local needlepoint store, The Needleworks, I decided to give this form of needlework a try. I am so glad I did! I found that I love working charted pieces and this is the 12th one I’ve done.
I used an eggshell 18 count canvas cut to 15 inches by 15 inches. First I found the center of the canvas, and using the chart provided, I began to stitch. This piece called for only four different kinds of threads: Caron Watercolours, Fyre Works, Kreinik and perle cotton.
It’s so rewarding to watch a blank canvas stitch up to become a beautiful design.
Laura Perrin called this piece Jewel Box, but I would have called it ‘Fireworks’ because as I was stitching I felt I was creating a fireworks display
