The challenge was to pick a stitch and use a minimum of seven variations of that stitch with a maximum of ten. I decided to use couching techniques.

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year, so I chose to put my stitches in a pumpkin. After designing the final look and transferring the line drawing to canvas, I decided to paint the pumpkin. This was my first time painting on canvas, so I made a mess, but learned a few things. Using fall colors, I selected my threads and stitched the pumpkin using a variety of Couching techniques. I decided not to work towards a perfect pumpkin or stitching and I let the paint show through the stitches. I didn’t want the paint totally covered.
