First Place, Professional Mixed Meda; The Academy Heart
At NAN’s 2013 Assembly I took Michele Roberts’ Copper Twelve Days of Christmas, and a new love was found: copper.
I used the pear tree from Michele’s piece, after that I went off on my own. I changed the piece to use fifteen tiles and made the theme hearts and autumn. Many others in the class changed their themes, too; what fun we all had.
I used a copper scoring pad, crimper, pre-cut forms, cookie cutters, wide metal wire, ribbon, embossing pattern plates and other findings to create the tiles. From Carolyn Sherman’s class, I used a technique with beads to capture a glass stone. And, I created the chain mail from some instructions I downloaded from the internet.
