Third Place

This glass bottom boat canvas was selected for a canvas embellishment workshop. Some of the teachers’ ideas were used, but the primary stitch selection came from me.

I placed silver lamé behind the water to enhance the sparkle. The bubbles are attached rhinestones. A heavy padded satin stitch called repoussé was suggested for the octopus’ arms, but I decided to use an open chain stitch with sequins. This piece will be enjoyed by my two grandsons, ages 6 years and 8 months old.
