Honorable Mention

This was the first time I’ve attended the Needlearts Mystery Retreat. This was the tenth year of the retreat.

There are four teachers: Debbie Rowley, Linda Reinmiller, Pat Hartman and Mary Knapp. Each teacher designs two sections and a border for the piece and then stitches it in the threads and colors that have been chosen. All you know about the piece before you arrive are the colors chosen for the design.

The biggest challenge, of course, was stitching on black canvas; and I had to be so careful about trailing threads. This design has so many TINY elements that I couldn’t start and stop threads in each one.

I changed a few sections, but stayed pretty close to the teachers’ designs.
