Honorable Mention

This was a 3.5 day class titled “Color Inspiration” by Orna Willis. Prior to the class, she mailed each student two photos. She asked us to pick one, and to assemble threads that matched the colors in the photo.

The first 2.5 days were spent analyzing the photos we’d chosen, and selecting combinations of threads and colors that worked together well to express the ambiance of the piece. My photo was a bouquet of flowers in vibrant colors.

For the last day of class, Orna provided us with a simple geometric design. It specified stitches and their placement, but nothing else. Each of us worked with the design and our threads to determine a pleasing color placement.
