Best in Show for Japanese Embroidery (The Beverly Booker Award); First Place, Non-Professional Japanese Embroidery

The original design for this piece was created by Shay Pendray and has appeared over the years in many different color schemes and stitching styles (embroidery, needlepoint, etc.).
I first saw and fell in love with this design as a NAN exhibit piece.

In my case, traditional Japanese Embroidery techniques, stitches and silks were used on a background of Obi silk. The colors and particular stitches used are the result of collaboration between Shay and me after spending hours discussing what colors and stitches should be used. However, the stitching is all mine.
