This piece was inspired by a mandrel design found in one of the popular adult coloring books. I liked the way the poppies were positioned on the outer edge of the circle. I stitched it in Japanese embroidery silks and metals on a ground of Obi silk, using many traditional Japanese embroidery techniques and stitches.

The brown fan hardware was purchased at an embroidery exhibit in Italy and had been in my stash waiting for inspiration for several years. The framing of this piece was quite a challenge for my framer.
