NAN's Fabulous Exhibit of Needlework

The Exemplary is proud to exhibit creative needlework from embroiderers of all levels of expertise, from beginners to the highly experienced. You do not have to be a NAN member to enter our exhibit. NAN welcomes both original and non-original pieces to the Exemplary, and they are judged separately. Professional and nonprofessional embroiderers are encouraged to enter; they are also judged in separate categories. This is an opportunity to share one's lovely work with fellow stitchers and other interested patrons who will enjoy viewing the fruits of your labor.

Awards are given in several categories:
- Non-original with Instruction - Non-Professional
- Non-original with Instruction -Professional
- Non-original w/o Instruction - Professional
- Non-original w/o Instruction - Non-Professional
- Original - Non-Professional
- Original - Professional
- Mixed Media - Non-Professional
- Mixed Media - Professional
- Japanese Embroidery - Professional
- Japanese Embroidery - Non-Professional
In addition, special ribbons are given by the Board of Directors
- The Muse's Kiss (The Peg Laflam Award) given for creativity
- The Academy Heart given for the piece that evokes emotion
- The Exemplary given for exceptional excellence in execution
- The Linda Calsing Award given to the piece best reflecting Linda's love of travel & history
- The Betsy Robb Award given for excellence in Silk and/or Metal work
- The Beverly Booker Award given for excellence in Japanese Embroidery
- The Hope Hanley Award given to the piece that advances canvas embroidery
